Paradoxe Kreativität. Im Raum endloser Möglichkeiten passiert nicht viel, aber festlegende Vorgaben drosseln den Schöpfergeist. Es ist die Balance zwischen Freiheit und Einschränkung, die eine Form entstehen lässt: Die immergleiche Struktur eines Sonetts, die Manuskriptabgabe um 23:59 Uhr, ein Setdesign nur aus den ohnehin vorhandenen Alltagsdingen bauen. Sogenannte Scores beflügeln Improvisation und Fantasie: möglichst viele Ideen innerhalb von einer Minute notieren, jedes Wort muss mit dem Buchstaben ‚G‘ beginnen oder es darf nur auf der Fläche von einem Quadratmeter getanzt werden.

So wie es bei Theater der Dinge 2023 um das Ausloten von Möglichkeitsräumen durch Begrenzen und Erweitern geht, wird auch der Festivalblog von dieser Balance leben. Unsere Autor*innen haben nach ihrem Theaterbesuch nur wenige Stunden zum Verfassen ihrer Response, denn damit der Blog wie ein Liveticker das Festival begleitet, wird ihr Beitrag gleich am Folgetag veröffentlicht.

Dafür toben sie sich formal aus. Ob sie das Erlebte in einem Comic oder Haiku festhalten, einen Essay auf ihrer oldschooligen Schreibmaschine tippen, einen Kurzpodcast aufnehmen, ihre Eindrücke vor der Kamera performen oder sie als Power-Point-Präsentation wiedergeben… – der Blog ist unser Spielraum für die vielfältigen Möglichkeiten, mit dem Figurentheater ins Gespräch zu treten.

Paradoxical creativity. Not much happens in the space of endless possibilities, but predefinitions throttle our imaginative spirit. It is the balance between freedom and restriction that allows a form to emerge. The given structure of a sonnet, the deadline at 11:59 pm, building a set design only from the everyday things I have available at the moment. So-called scores foster improvisation: Jotting down as many ideas as possible within a minute, every word has to start with the letter ‘G’ or it’s only allowed to dance on the surface of a square meter.

Just as Theater der Dinge 2023 is about playfully exploring spaces of possibility by limiting and expanding them, so too will the festival blog live from this balance. Our authors have only a few hours after their theatre visit to write their response, as with their contribution being published the very next day, the blog accompanies the festival like a live ticker.

In return, there are no formal restrictions, whether they capture their experience in a comic or haiku, write an essay on their oldschool typewriter, record a mini-podcast, perform their impressions in front of the camera or reflect on them in a Power Point presentation… – the blog is our wiggle room for the many ways to enter into conversation with the works of object theatre.
